Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday to Me,
Happy Birthday to Me,
Happy Birthday dear Me, Happy Birthday to Me!

It's my 27th birthday and the day looks bright. =)

My boyfriend of year and four months gave me a congratulations kiss as I woke up. We had nice breakfast before he ran to work.

I got flowers from my great aunt, beautiful card from my friend, a text from two others and a book from mum. My boyfriend already took me into a concert Wednesday night and he said that there'll be another gift coming up after he comes home. I'm one lucky girl! =)

It was great to see many "Happy Birthday" messages at clusterheadaches.com. Thank you, friends!

So I'm 27 now. Time to develop 3-0 crisis, hah hah! Actually I'm enjoying my life to the fullest and taking each day as they arrive. CH is still around, its gift for me was a hit when I was waiting for my special lunch (a mozzarella - pesto burger, yummy!). But I'm not going to let that ruin the day. We're off to movies later and the littleones have been so cute!

I wish everyone else a Happy Birthday, I'm sure I'm not the only Birthday Girl today. I hope that your day will be a wonderful one!

Something old, new, borrowed & blue

Now, those who are in a hurry to send me their warm congratulations, don't. I haven't heard any proposals. I'm just talking about the furniture this time. =)

You see, putting two people's things together can be one interesting adventure. Two mircowave ovens, three toasters, loads of CDs and DVDs... shall I go on?

We've reached that point when all the boxes have been opened and emptied and taken to the attic/storage/trash can. Most of the things we have here have found their places. Well, a place, at least. It might change in time!

I've noticed that although we refer things as "our things", we do have bit of "my things" left; when I cook, I like to use my things mostly, and he uses his things when he cooks. But we're using plates and glasses and forks, knives and spoons already like we'd always had them. It's great.

Before we started to live together, lots of people warned us about the "hellish first month", the "hellish two months" and the "hellish two years (!)". I wonder what they were really talking about? We've lived together soon a month and besides being utterly tired after carrying all the heavy boxes during the first week, things have gone so far better than what I've expected.

But, I suppose, it all comes down to the persons in question and what kind of relationship they have. If we had been just meeting each other outside (i.e. going to see a movie, eat out, take a walk...) and see now each other indoors for the first time, I bet things would be different. But we have been hanging around at each other's old appartments during weekends and spend a week together last summer at my boyfriend's aunt's island. So we've seen each other early in the morning and late at night before.

I've been waiting to see what we'll fight about. Well, so far, just my mother. And not really fight, just discuss that topic in more intense manner. I mean, my buddies joked that soon we'll be fighting about cabinets' place and things like that, but nope. I did wonder for a while if would ever get a clock to our kitchen wall, but yup, we did. We found a clock, which is silent (his wish) and looks nice (mine).

Deep down we look at the world and life in quite similar way. Our family backgrounds are different, so are the size of our home cities. But our values and day-to-day priorities are close to each other, which means a great, solid ground to build on. =)

And yes, we have lots of old things. We have bought a magazine holder, kitchen stairs, a vacuum cleaner for the small things (I'm too lazy this second to look up the correct word) for our appartment. We haven't borrowed any things yet, but mum will bring my old curtains on her next visit - then I'm borrowing them from my old room. Finally, we come to blue. We have LOTS of blue things in here, the couch and the living room carpet for example. And I'm sure that lots of other blue things are on their way...

PoP! There goes Music & Lyrics

Every once in a while when you go to the movies to see a romantic comedy (or, as I prefer to call them: feel good movies), hopes are high but not always met.

But when three veterans of feel good flicks, Hugh Grant, Drew Barrymore and Marc Lawrence (ever heard of Miss Congeniality films? He wrote them) join their forces to make Music and Lyrics, I just had to see myself if it was worth it.

It indeed was. When I go to see a movie, I want to enjoy myself, laugh, feel connected with the characters and their situations in a way or another and then, when the movies is above the average, something extra. That X factor, which some films have. Best of them come with a heart and a soul.

Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore play a team, a forgotten popstar and woman who waters his plants, who are brought together by a chance and writing together a hit song for a current popstar. Then talented actors such as these two are brought together, one can be sure that the acting itself is guarateed (and Brad Garrett and especially Kristen Johnston play hilarious sidekicks), just the plot and its twists are the mystery.

I won't reveal the huge surprises of the film, but I'm sure that all the people who enjoy the feel good/romantic comedy genre in general, will find Music and Lyrics heart-warming, joyful and fully enjoyable experience. It has its funny moments (more than usually, I might add), its musical numbers and topical parody, which makes it unique combination.

Music and Lyrics has more to offer to its viewers than the trailer, the title or synopsis promises, which is always exciting. And that's what I want to find when I make my choice and head to my seat for about an hour and fortyfive minutes.
