Now, those who are in a hurry to send me their warm congratulations, don't. I haven't heard any proposals. I'm just talking about the furniture this time. =)
You see, putting two people's things together can be one interesting adventure. Two mircowave ovens, three toasters, loads of CDs and DVDs... shall I go on?
We've reached that point when all the boxes have been opened and emptied and taken to the attic/storage/trash can. Most of the things we have here have found their places. Well, a place, at least. It might change in time!
I've noticed that although we refer things as "our things", we do have bit of "my things" left; when I cook, I like to use my things mostly, and he uses his things when he cooks. But we're using plates and glasses and forks, knives and spoons already like we'd always had them. It's great.
Before we started to live together, lots of people warned us about the "hellish first month", the "hellish two months" and the "hellish two years (!)". I wonder what they were really talking about? We've lived together soon a month and besides being utterly tired after carrying all the heavy boxes during the first week, things have gone so far better than what I've expected.
But, I suppose, it all comes down to the persons in question and what kind of relationship they have. If we had been just meeting each other outside (i.e. going to see a movie, eat out, take a walk...) and see now each other indoors for the first time, I bet things would be different. But we have been hanging around at each other's old appartments during weekends and spend a week together last summer at my boyfriend's aunt's island. So we've seen each other early in the morning and late at night before.
I've been waiting to see what we'll fight about. Well, so far, just my mother. And not really fight, just discuss that topic in more intense manner. I mean, my buddies joked that soon we'll be fighting about cabinets' place and things like that, but nope. I did wonder for a while if would ever get a clock to our kitchen wall, but yup, we did. We found a clock, which is silent (his wish) and looks nice (mine).
Deep down we look at the world and life in quite similar way. Our family backgrounds are different, so are the size of our home cities. But our values and day-to-day priorities are close to each other, which means a great, solid ground to build on. =)
And yes, we have lots of old things. We have bought a magazine holder, kitchen stairs, a vacuum cleaner for the small things (I'm too lazy this second to look up the correct word) for our appartment. We haven't borrowed any things yet, but mum will bring my old curtains on her next visit - then I'm borrowing them from my old room. Finally, we come to blue. We have LOTS of blue things in here, the couch and the living room carpet for example. And I'm sure that lots of other blue things are on their way...
